Several of the accounts had the same password, but based on your suggestion I changed the passwords so they don't match. The Windows servers were a domain and one of the first things I did when having the problem was delete the windows 7 computer account from the domain and add it back. That was one of the first places I thought might be the problem.
Since than, in desperation I domoted the Win servers to stand alone workgroup servers and now have the network setup as a simple workgroup. Office Office Exchange Server. Not an IT pro? What can I do: I can connect to a shared drive on an Windows xp machine. I can connect from the windows servers to a share on the Windows 7 machine. I can connec to the internet. I can see the Windows servers. What I can't do is connect to the shared drives or printer on the windows servers. The message I receive is that I don't have the necessary permissions. I've deleted the user name on the servers and recreated it to no avail.
I've created a new user name on the windows 7 machine and servers with no success connecting. I've tried turning off password requirements under Windows 7 advanced setting to no avail. The network is hard-wired and consists of 4 machines and configured as a workgroup. See readme. This software may also apply to Intel Ethernet Controllers. Thanks for your feedback. I get the same "Access Denied" message and the above workaround did not work. I can access by way of web when I turn on web sharing tape in the 2k system but its not a good workaround because the different software packages don't work well with web access.
I do not think there is any cause to be nice to MS since the issue you report does not exist. I have two Windows 7 machines: One "Basic", the other "Ultimate". Both belong to the workgroup "Workgroup".
They are not members of a domain. A moment ago I issued the following command on the Ultimate machine where I was logged on as "Pegasus", after making sure that the "Administrator" account on Tremolo was "active":. There is a registry fix for this issue. For Vista and windows 7 you must make the changes below. If you do not have a entry for LmCompatibilityLevel you need to create one. Create a dword and set the value to 1. Here's my question though: I have a Dell laptop running Win 7 Ultimate bit.
This was in early August. I had to ship the unit to Dell for repair of a hardware issue. It was gone for about 10 days. Literally nothing changed in the configuration of the server or laptop between the time I powered it off to ship it to Dell for hardware service, and the time I powered it back on after receiving it back - save for the possibility that Dell technicians modified the Windows 7 installation, which I consider highly unlikely.
Any idea why this registry fix would have become necessary? Could the August security patch releases have changed something? I tried the above steps but have the same Access Denied Issues with Windows 7.
We have two users trying to access files on a Windows Server using Windows 7 x They reicieve Access Denied and are not able to save most of their work. We have a second set of server remotely in another location that are running DFS and running Windows The Windows servers work flawlessly, same users and permissions as these are DFS shares. I don't run into this problem with XP or Vista. The users are graphics design who are always saving and changing files, they report this is happening multiple times each hour.
I have tried troubleshooting steps, removing any anti-virus, firewall etc.
