Steve Winograd. In reply to TokenSol's post on January 27, You didn't mention wireless in your question, so I assumed that you wanted to use a wired connection between the computers.

If both computers have wireless networking capability, you might be able to create an ad-hoc wireless network between them and share the Internet over that connection. I'm sorry, but I don't know the details of how to do that. I have not given up and keep researching possiblities.

I know there are work-arounds; but nothing that gives me the Mbs transmission rate. I guess the easiest is with a router, but that gives about 54 Mbs not good enough. I too, can connect through the XP machine and it is a puzzel to me why the more advanced Windows 7 has a problem.

My guess is that it has something to do with security. I saw a suggestion that adding a gateway on the Windows 7 machine was the answer. I did this an saw the indation that I now had internet connectivity; but when I went to the XP I still got the same message. Please post if you find the answer. Does it indicate that you have allowed internet access on the "public" or "work" network?
